How a guided tasting and collaborative design process shaped David and Eva’s wedding cake

Starting with Flavor and an Open Conversation

When David and Eva came in for their tasting, the focus was clear from the beginning. Flavor mattered, and they wanted to make thoughtful choices without overcomplicating the process. They arrived with a range of cake flavors and fillings they were drawn to, then leaned on the team to help narrow things down in a way that would feel balanced for both them and their guests.

Together, we talked through combinations that would actually work well together. After tasting, the direction became clear. Vanilla cake with lemon filling. Bright, clean, and well suited for a wide range of palates.

The goal was never to overwhelm the decision. It was to land on something intentional that felt right.

The Tasting Experience

Cake tastings are treated with the same care as the final product. Each sample is prepared and plated thoughtfully, because presentation is part of the experience, not an afterthought.

Eva noticed that right away. The samples were clean, intentional, and reflective of the work that would follow. That early attention to detail helps establish trust and sets the tone for the rest of the process.

Aligning on the Design Direction

Once the flavor was finalized, the focus shifted to how the cake would look and feel on the wedding day. To help guide those conversations, David and Eva shared AI-generated inspiration images alongside their florist’s vision.

These images helped establish a clear design direction early, giving everyone a shared reference point for tier proportion, texture, and overall aesthetic. It allowed the design to feel intentional without locking it in too early, leaving room for on-site details like fresh greenery to be added the day of the wedding.

This approach kept the process collaborative and flexible, while ensuring the final cake would feel cohesive with the rest of the event.

AI-Inspired Design

Designing for the Day

With approximately 90 guests attending their wedding at The Cove at Normandy Park, David and Eva chose a three-tier cake that would be cut and served on site. Budget, guest experience, and visual impact were all part of the conversation, and the final decision balanced all three.

They coordinated with their florist to leave greenery behind so it could be incorporated into the cake on the day of the wedding. This allowed the final design to feel connected to the space and the overall aesthetic, rather than locked in too early.

When the cake was finished and set in place, the reaction was immediate.

The Final Product

From the Client

“We absolutely loved our cake. From the tasting to the final design, the entire experience felt thoughtful and intentional. We were guided through flavor combinations in a way that made the decision easy, and the presentation of the tasting alone showed how much talent and care goes into the process.

When we saw our cake on the wedding day, our jaws dropped. It reflected our love and everything we had selected beautifully. David wasn’t able to attend the tasting, so this was his first time trying the cake, and when he tasted it, his eyes lit up. It was perfect.”

The Wedding Day Moment

For David, the wedding day was his first experience tasting the cake. Seeing his reaction confirmed what we already knew. The flavor matched the design, and the cake delivered on both.

The celebration ended with one final detail that made the day even more memorable. Cameron, part of the sales team, drove David and Eva away in Emberglow, giving them a joyful send-off that felt just as personal as the rest of the experience.
